This is not a stock photo. This is ME trying not to get blown off a cliff in Oia.

Oia, Santorini, 2020. Ghost town. Pandemic. No tourists, no influencers queuing for that blue dome shot. Just me, the wind, and three bells that have seen more sunsets than all of Instagram combined.

I was living in Athens then, stuck for months, and I was FIRST on that ferry when they finally opened the islands. Empty streets. Silent caldera. That blue so deep it hurts your eyes. And these bells just hanging there like they own the Aegean. Which they do.

I took this photo because I couldn't believe the silence. No shutter clicks, no "excuse me can you take my photo" - just the bells and the sea.

Now it's on a suitcase. Because some silences you need to carry with you.

This suitcase? She knows the difference between postcard Santorini and real Santorini. The one that exists when nobody is performing for the camera. The white that is actually white because nobody touched it. The blue that is 400 meters of caldera straight down.

For the girls who climbed to the top when everyone else was at the pool. Who get bored after 10 minutes of lying flat. Who travel for the bell tower, not the beach bar.

THE STORY BEHIND THE PRINT:
Original photography by me in Oia, Santorini, May 2020 - first week after lockdown, island was empty. I walked 8km up because buses weren't running. This triple bell tower is right above the caldera, the same sea that sank Atlantis is behind it. This exact silence is now your luggage.
