Antipaxos, 2021. Ghost island. Pandemic. No boats, no tourists, water so clear you could count the fish from the boat. Just me, this insane turquoise, and that anchor-print headscarf trying not to fly off. Locals said they hadn't seen water that clean in 30 years.

I took this photo while floating in that water. Now it's on a suitcase. Because some places you don't just visit, you take with you.

This suitcase? She gets it. She knows what real Ionian blue looks like. She knows the difference between tourist blue and holy-shit-is-this-real blue. The blue that Antipaxos does when nobody is watching.
