Everybody photographs this windmill. Nobody gets it empty.

I did. Working in Athens then, so I could take the 7am ferry and be in Oia at 9am before the cruise ships dump 2000 people. At 9:12am this street is empty. At 9:20am it's over.

That windmill? It doesn't work. It hasn't worked for years. But it still stands there like it owns the hill. And we all still stop. Because some things don't need to work to be important. They just need to be there.

I shot this at 9:14am. No people. Just white, blue, and that weird red windmill that looks like it was drawn by a child. Three minutes later a tour group came and it was gone.

Now it's on a suitcase. Because I want you to have that 9:14am feeling too. Before the world wakes up.

For the early birds. The ferry takers. The ones who know that empty is the real luxury.
